Heaven received a true angel as our mother passed away on August 24, 2015 peacefully surrounded by her family. Billie Jeanne (BJ) Eckles, 83, was the family matriarch and incredible example of how to live life to the fullest. She loved her Lord, her family, and as much attention as she could garner. BJ had a beautiful voice and was at home performing for others. She loved her Belles and Beaux gang who performed for so many and was a superstar at her annual Senior Follies show. BJ adored her family, and taught her grandchildren that loving others was the key to life. Her wit, charm and talents were displayed every day, and have been passed on to her precious grandchildren. Billie Jeanne was a member of the Jazz Society of Pensacola, Over 55 Club and Daughters of the Nile. She was also the longest standing member of her beloved church, Saint Paul UMC, and will be missed greatly there where she cherished serving her Lord. Granny, as she was lovingly called by all, is survived by her children, John (Elizabeth), Pam (James), Steve (Teresa) and Cindy (Edward). She leaves behind her nine grandchildren and her nine great-grandchildren, and her dearest cousin Joann Padgett and family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Billy P. Eckles. A special thanks to Dr. Anita Westafer and Dr. Steven DeCesare for their loving care and special attention. Funeral services will be Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Rose Lawn Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Lance Whorton. Visitation will be at 10:00 AM, service at 11:00 AM, followed by a reception at Saint Paul United Methodist Church. Floral arrangements will be accepted or donations may be made to St Paul United Methodist Church.
