Betty Rausch

Betty Rausch was born at home in Brinkman, Oklahoma on November 24, 1921 and passed away at the Covenant Hospice - Joyce Goldenberg Inpatient Residence Center on May 31, 2015. Betty is survived by her children Richard (Tony) Rausch of Navarre, FL, Karen (Bill) Barth of Gulf Breeze, FL, Gary (Kathy) Rausch of Cinnaminson, NJ, Jeffrey Rausch of Pensacola, FL; grandchildren Erin (Ryan) Leach of Egg Harbor City, NJ, Jason (Erika) Barth of Pleasant Grove, UT, Samantha Rausch of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Nathan Rausch of Gunnison, CO; and great-grandchildren Brian Dollison of Egg Harbor City, NJ, Gabrielle Barth of Tumwater, WA, and Alexander Rausch of Fort Walton Beach, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents Sarah Frances and James Steele; her brothers Waldo, Warren, Ralph, Harold, Jack, and Bill; sisters Thelma, Marie, and Bobbye; her husband Kenneth; and her son James. Betty was raised on a farm in southwest Oklahoma, graduated from Lone Wolf High School and attended Texas Tech in Lubbock, TX. It was in Lubbock that she met the love of her life, Kenneth Rausch, a pilot in the Army Air Corps. They were married on November 7, 1942 and had 59 years together before he passed in January 2002. Betty and Ken raised their five children in Palmyra, NJ before retiring to Gulf Breeze in 1988. She loved gardening, sewing, quilting, and especially cooking for friends and family. Betty could remember all the important family dates for her extended family including cousins, nieces, and nephews, as well as their children. She always looked forward to the Steele family reunions in Mangum, Oklahoma where she could catch up on all the "doings" of her large family. A celebration of Betty's life will be at Rose Lawn Funeral Home on July 16, 2015 at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Covenant Hospice of Pensacola or a charity of your choice.
