Herbert "Bert" Campbell fell into the arms of his loving wife Margie, April 17, 2013. He passed away peacefully at the age of 93 at his home in Gulf Breeze, Florida surrounded by his caring family. Bert was born in Youngstown, Ohio on August 6, 1919. He served his country during World War II from 1940 to 1946 and then he served his community as a police officer and detective for the Youngstown Police Department, and police officer for Youngstown State University for four decades. Bert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will always be remembered for his gentleness, humility, integrity, unconditional love, and perpetual smile that he had even moments before he passed away. Bert leaves behind his loving sons and daughters in law. Bob, who, was his long time caregiver, Jack, Bill and Annie, Rick and Marifae, and Mike. His adoring grandchildren, Francis, Adeline and Eric, his beautiful sister, Corky Lynch and her husband Art, friend and brother-in-law, Joe Loree, many wonderful nephews and nieces and countless friends. Bert was a faithful parishioner of Saint Ann's Catholic Church in Gulf Breeze and greatly admired Monsignor Luke Hunt. Dad's family gives a special thanks to his long time in-home companion, Lanelle Cross and Covenant Hospice who helped Dad to spend his final time at home. May God bless the Eucharist ministers from Saint Ann's who brought Dad the gift of Jesus while he was homebound, and the caring medical staff at Gulf Breeze Hospital, where Dad was a volunteer for many years. A Memorial Mass will be held at Saint Ann's in Gulf Breeze on Friday, April 26, 2013 at 10:30 AM. Inurnment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola at 12:30 PM. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Donor Services, PO Box 4072, Pittsfield, MA 01202
