Aubrey Edwin Fulford, a resident of Gulf Breeze, Florida, passed away on January 25, 2023 at the age of 97. Born in Mobile, Alabama on September 11, 1925, Aubrey lived a long and fulfilling life surrounded by his many adoring friends and family.
During World War II, Aubrey proudly served as a 2nd Lieutenant, B-29 bombardier instructor. After the war, he returned to Tuscaloosa where he graduated from the University of Alabama and met the love of his life, Gwen Hall. They married in 1950 and in 1951, Aubrey began a successful career within the Freon products division of Dupont. After 37 years, he retired
in Houston, Texas.
Aubrey was a lifelong avid golfer, with the distinction of three holes-in-one! He was a passionate fan of Alabama football. He loved entertaining friends, listening to jazz and spending time with his family. He was known for his incredible memory and ability to captivate audiences with his engaging stories, right down to the last detail.
Aubrey was preceded in death by his wife, Gwen Fulford, brother, John E. Fulford, Jr., and parents, Rosina & John E. Fulford. He is survived by his sons, Patrick E. Fulford (Cynthia) and David L. Fulford (Heather). He also leaves behind 6 grandchildren: Amy Schmidt (Patrick), Missy Hooke (Thomas), Sarah Koonce (David), Corbin Fulford, Cole Liland (David), and Jill Bailey as well as 9 great-grandchildren.
Aubrey never met a stranger and will always be remembered for his infectious energy and zest for life. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. May his memory and larger-than-life stories continue to warm the hearts of those who knew and loved him for many years to come.
