Dr. Arthur Waldemar Krause, 88, passed away August 21, 2011. He was born December 7, 1922 in Poland to Olga Schrotke Krause and Arthur Krause. He received his doctorate in Naturwissenschaft (Natural Sciences) from the University of Bonn, Germany, where he met his wife, Ruth (a pharmacist) in 1951. In 1957, he came to the United States with his wife and young son to work for General Tire in Akron, Ohio. A position with Tenneco brought him to Pensacola in 1969 where he worked for one year and then twenty-two years for Reichhold Chemical. As part of his work assignment, he travelled around the world including Brazil (Rio de Janeiro), Argentina (Buenos Aires), South Korea, Taiwan and Europe. Among his many accomplishments as a scientist are several patents. He was a fifty-five year senior member of the American Chemical Society (national chapter), a fifty year member of the American Chemical Society (local chapter) and a fifty-five year member of the German Chemical Society. He was also a founding member of the Hansa Club (a German/American club) in1969, of which he was the president for many years. Under his leadership and devoted service, the club provided many with wonderful social and educational opportunities. Arthur was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Reiner. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruth and his grandson, Justin Krause. Visitation will be at 10:00 am, Thursday, August 25, 2011 at Rose Lawn Funeral Home, Gulf Breeze, at 11:00 am Thursday, August 25 followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am.
