Winnifred Hasten

Winnifred N. Hasten, 86, of Gulf Breeze, Florida passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2016. Winn was born on September 8, 1930 to Nelson and Noma Berglund in Springfield, Missouri and spent her childhood there. She attended Drury College and graduated with a degree in Education.
She met and married Robert Joseph Hasten and so began their life together with stops in St. Louis, Missouri, Miami, Oklahoma and Philadelphia, Pa. before settling down for good in Gulf Breeze in 1974.
Winn was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church. Her true passion was gardening and usually had a better tan than most people at Pensacola Beach which she also loved. She was a good cook and could fry chicken with the best of them. She enjoyed arts and crafts and truly enjoyed the Christmas season. She truly adored her Grandchildren and especially her Great Grandchildren. After they were born, she wasn't Mom or Grandma anymore but GG for Great Grandma. Wise, generous, and caring, she will truly be missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nelson and Noma Berglund, her husband, Robert Joseph Hasten, her brother John Berglund of Springfield, Missouri, her sisters Ann Truhitte and Jane Pulley of Gulf Breeze. She is survived by her son, Joseph (Elizabeth), Grandaughter Tera Foley (Kelvin), Great Grandchildren Mia and Kera, Grandson Jose Rivera (Katie) Great Grandchildren Brooklyn and Kaley and Grady. Niece DeeAnn Dighero of Aurora, Missouri and Nephew Thomas Pulley of Gulf Breeze.
A time of viewing and visitation will be held Thursday December 8, 2016 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Rose Lawn Funeral Home in Gulf Breeze, followed by interment at Barrancas National Cemetery/ NAS Pensacola.
