Norry B. Hersey, 82, of Gulf Breeze passed away Friday, January 6 after a long illness.
Norry was born in Presque Isle, Maine to Lewis and Ruth Hersey, and grew up in Fort Fairfield, ME. After graduating from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology he toured the world and then worked for the Army and Air Force Exchange Service in Germany. He retired from AAFES after 30 years of distinguished service as its Senior Civilian employee, and created an Information Technology consulting business after holding several IT positions with Super Valu Foods, US Sprint, the City of Pensacola and Waterfront Rescue Mission.
Norry was an avid runner, cyclist and skier, and inspired his children to pursue higher education and athletic endeavors.
He leaves to cherish and celebrate his life: wife Evelyn Hersey and children Ian (Jeanne) Hersey of Menlo Park, CA; Brigadier General Neil (Dr. Kathy) Hersey of Gambrills, MD; Wendy (John) Fisk of Joshua, TX; Dr. Scott (Shelton) Oakley Hersey of Boston, grandchildren Tana and Erik Fisk, Ned Street and Kayleigh Hersey; as well as former spouse and close friend Diana Hersey of Duncanville, TX.
We ask you to join us in a celebration of his life at 2 pm on Wednesday, January 11 at Community Life United Methodist Church, Soundside Drive in Gulf Breeze. In lieu of flowers we ask that contributions be made to American Cancer Society , National Parkinson Foundation, Community Life UMC youth missions or a charity of your choice .
With grateful hearts the family wishes to thank the staff at Gulf Breeze Hospital for their incredible care of Norry and his family during this difficult time.
