Michael Bennett

Michael Allen Bennett, a true southern gentleman with an ever-present smile and an inviting laugh passed away suddenly but peacefully in his sleep at his home in Gulf Breeze, Florida on May 24, 2014. He was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Colonel Wilmer Bennett and Anne Hutton Bennett. He attended Catholic High School and graduated with a degree in business administration from LSU. In 1987, he married Sarah Reed, also of Baton Rouge. He was vice-president of commercial lending for Beach Community Bank and worked countless hours for Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church as an audio engineer for worship each Sunday morning as well as weddings and special events. He was a gifted musician playing music who played by ear. He was in different bands throughout his life but the origins of some of his dearest friends were Southbound in Baton Rouge and Loaded Goat in Gulf Breeze. Despite all of his gifts and talents, his pride and joy was his family. When he spoke of his children his pride filled the room. He gave to them his dry wit, his calm demeanor and the quiet strength that they will need for a lifetime. He is survived by his wife, Sarah, his daughter Amanda and his son Jordan; sisters Mary Lindsey, Betsy Bennett, Margaret Boudreaux and brother Bill Bennett. Visitation will be held at Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church, 75 Fairpoint Drive on Sunday, June 1 from 3-5 pm. The funeral service will be officiated by Dr. Herb Sadler at Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church, 75 Fairpoint Drive on Monday June 2 @ 2:00 pm.
