John Lindsey

John Aaron Lindsey passed away at the age of 85 on November 28, 2014, at the Bay Breeze Nursing Home in Gulf Breeze, FL. He fought a long hard battle with Parkinson's Disease. Mr. Lindsey was born September 13, 1929, in Centre, AL, the son of the late Richard Felton Lindsey and the late Ella Victoria Chapman Lindsey, he grew up and lived most of his life in Centre, AL and Rome, GA. He joined the Navy and served several years on the U.S.S. New Jersey. After this he became a professional painter and then worked in the Lindsey family business. He loved fishing at his cabin and watching football, especially Alabama (although he did admit to cheering for Auburn once!) Surviving are his daughters Debra Jean Scott, Victoria Johnette Lindsey, and Captain Barbara Louise Carpenter (Retired USAF) and husband Edward Lee Carpenter II, son Johnny Lindsey, daughter Donna Formby and numerous grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Kay Lindsey, who has two surviving sons, Riley Morris and Chris Falloon. Mr. Lindsey will lie instate at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 from 1:00 until 1:30pm. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Funeral Home, South Chapel, 3002 Maple Rd, Rome. Interment will follow at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens, 2549 Shorter Avenue, Rome, with the American Legion Post #5 Honor Guard presenting military honors. The Family respectively requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Parkinson's Disease Foundation (www.pdf.org) to help find a cure for this horrible disease.
