Benjamin Davies, Jr

Benjamin W. Davies, Jr., age 87, of Niceville, Florida, passed from this life peacefully Sunday June 15, 2014. Ben was born in Gallion, Alabama and grew up there and in Demopolis, Alabama. After graduating from Marion Institute in Marion, Alabama, he served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War Two. After graduating from the University of Alabama in 1949, Ben served his country in the U.S. Air Force until his retirement from the Air Force in 1975. He concluded his Air Force career by working as the comptroller at Eglin Air Force Base, and lived in Niceville after his retirement. In retirement, among other things, Ben was active in the University of Alabama Alumni Association, and he served as a Vice-President of the Association from 1992 to 1994. He also served as a poll worker at elections for many years. He was a proud member of Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Parish, Eglin Air Force Base. Ben was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Jeweldene and his sister Margaret. Ben leaves behind his son Robert, Robert's fiancée Chongyon and her children Teresa and Ray, and his goddaughter Betsy. Inurnment at Arlington National Cemetery will be at a future date.
