Alexander Mayfield

September 5, 1986 — June 5, 2014

On the morning of Thursday, June 5th Alexander Mikhail Mayfield left behind the trials and tribulations of this earthly world for a much better and peaceful place. Alex grew up in Auburn and at age ten moved to Birmingham, Alabama where he attended Shades Valley International Baccalaureate High School. He was a very gifted soccer player. He was a starting freshman on his high school team, a member of the Alabama Olympic Development team, and won two state championships with the Vestavia Steamers select soccer team. He had an unbelievable passion for the game and was an avid student and fan of the game. Alex was also a huge college football fan, especially of the Auburn Tigers. He moved to Gulf Breeze with his family in 2005 and especially enjoyed fishing and the beach. He also earned a certificate of Landscape Management from the University of Florida. Alex had many challenges and struggles in his 27 years. Despite this, his love of his family never wavered. He was especially proud of the accomplishments of his younger sister, Ashley and younger brother Erik. He also loved his golden retrievers Kai, Kona, and Kody. Recently he was so excited to spend much time with his beautiful daughter Willow whom he cherished. Alex was loved dearly by many people and will be missed immensely. He is survived by his eleven month old daughter Willow, his brother Erik, sister Ashley, his mother Heidi, and father Charles as well as his grandparents and many uncles, aunts and cousins. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 10th from 10 AM to 12 PM at Rose Lawn Funeral Home in Gulf Breeze, Florida. Following cremation, inurnment will take place in Rose Lawn Cemetery.
