Sharon Joan Hanchett, age 71, Gulf Breeze, FL, died March 29, 2018 at her home following a battle with Cancer.

Born July 3, 1946 in Coudersport, PA, the daughter of Ronald and Mary Alice (Manning) Weimer, “Joan” went on to have many wonderful adventures. Perhaps her greatest, was marrying a Navy Submariner, Kenneth J. Hanchett, January 7, 1967. Joan and Ken always found something exciting to do wherever they were stationed. Being married to a sailor, Joan found her calling, serving for several years as the VFW, Ladies Auxiliary, President and Treasurer. She was a lifetime member. She was also a licensed beautician, a bartender, and took pride in managing a motel. Oh, the stories she could tell!

After Ken passed away, Joan moved south, to Florida. She became a member of several travel clubs. She has visited all 50 states, been to Canada, Ireland, England, and Mexico. She loved taking cruises most of all. She took great care and pride in her yard, and her flowerbeds. She could be seen sitting outside all day picking weeds, that only SHE could find. She loved her Pekinese, Precious, and the two often took road trips together. They would sleep side by side every night. Joan loved puzzles, cross-stitch, crocheting, her iPad, and lounging in her pool with the dog. She loved her family most of all. She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ronald and Mary Alice Weimer, a husband, Kenneth J. Hanchett. Surviving are her sons, Kipp J. Hanchett and wife, Brenna, of Louisiana; son Kristofor J. Hanchett, Guilderland, NY; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service beginning with a visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to Noon, Wednesday, April 18th at Rose Lawn Funeral Home, Gulf Breeze Florida.
